In a previous article I explained how capture, step by step, a swarm of honey bees<\/a>, of the genus Apis mel\u00edfera. This time we are in for a surprise. A swarm of native Melipon bees !!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stingless bees, but you have to be careful<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Warning: Not because it does not have a needle, it is a simple task and where we are going to minimize the security issue. Melipon bees do not have a stinger, but as compensation they have great aggressiveness and strong jaws to bite. Their strategy is to attack en masse and try to enter through the nostrils, ear, mouth and eyes. Everything can happen suddenly. An attack by these bees can become a very uncomfortable situation and cause health risks. Therefore, to be careful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That said, I proceed to share the following video that I made with great affection for those who want to venture into the breeding of these animals, which is called meliponiculture. There are many species of honey bees and most of them have a very high quality honey, although its extraction is more laborious than with the "normal" bees of the apis melliferous species.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
